Beloved in the Lord Fathers, Brothers and Sisters carrying out your ministry in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar - peace be upon you!

As the eldest clergyman here, working from the very beginning of the formation of Orthodox communities in the region to this day, I feel an urgent need to turn to you for immediate and generous help to those in need. My conscience and pastoral responsibility compel me to do this.

Our clergy and faithful are largely represented by Ukrainian citizens and there is no need to explain their suffering and torment, because their relatives and friends in the homeland are in the most serious danger, threatening not only their health, but life itself. Many do not have shelter and food, appropriate medical care. Among them are elderly, women and children. Some left their homes and flee to a foreign land; some continue to live in inhuman conditions.

It is very difficult to speak and find explanations for what is happening in Ukraine. This is our common tribulation and pain.

The legislation of the countries constituting our diocese do not allow religious leaders to have political affiliations, but it does not prohibit actively helping those in need. The only condition for such assistance is that this assistance is guaranteed to reach those for whom it is intended - the needy, the sick, the hungry, and would not contribute to confrontation.

Therefore, I believe it would be right to help our brothers and sisters in Christ through the Ukrainian Orthodox Church under the omophorion of His Beatitude Onufry, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, whose spiritual authority, wisdom and devotion to his flock, are not subject to the slightest doubt. This is the testimony of many, including mine, who knows him personally. This is also important because the flock of His Beatitude also includes those who live in Donbass.

Holy and Great Lent is coming - a time of repentance, a time of purification, and not only in words, but in one's deeds, caring for those in need.

My dear ones, I announce a fundraiser that will take place in the parishes of the Diocese of Thailand in all the Sundays of the Great Lent. You can donate both cash and by transfer to the bank account of the Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation. All collected funds will be immediately sent to the account of the charitable foundation of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry "MYR VAM" (Peace be upon you) about which you will be given the most detailed report.

The clergy and the Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation’s Committee are blessed to keep accurate records of the collected funds.

Remember, my dears, how will everyone be justified at the Last Judgment: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Mt 25:35-40)

In prayer for all of you and asking for your prayers,
Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin).
